Flatbed scanning
FLATBED SCANNING FOR UPLOAD
1. CAN YOU SCAN YOUR OWN IMAGE?
If you have a decent quality, modern flatbed scanner you probably can scan your own image. This, of course, allows you to keep your precious irreplaceable photo in your own hands at all times.
2. WHAT SETTINGS SHOULD YOU USE? You need to think about resolution and image quality when making a scan that you intend to print from. Most scanners have default settings for resolution and they are usually too low. 600 dpi (dots per inch) is usually a good starting place to have your scanner resolution for most photos (5x7, 4x6, or 3x5). Set it at 300 if you are scanning an 8x10 or larger. Set it at 900 or 1200 if you are scanning a smaller print. Save the image as a high quality Jpeg file and then send it to us.
