Choose Scanning Level - Help
For most of our clients the Basic scan is too raw and the Pro scan is overkill. Most clients choose between the Basic Plus and the Deluxe. Here are the pros and cons of each level.
Basic scan - We offer this as a low cost way to digitize slides for people who like to do their own photoshop editing. With no editing done on these images there is some work to do before you can really use the Basic scan images.
Basic Plus scan - This scan uses the DigitalICE4 system so the effects of dust and scratches will be minimized. This level does not however include color or lighting corrections. So, if you can hold up your images to a natural light source (such as a window) and your color looks good then your images will look good. If they appear dark, or reddish or color shifted then the final image will also appear dark or color shifted.
Deluxe scan - This can uses DigitalICE4 and includes border cropping and color and lighting corrections. This means that even your dark images will come out looking decent. Images that would otherwise look blue will look like they have a normal color spread. Deluxe images appear the most like a digital camera image.
PRO scan - This scan is overkill for most clients. It is much like
the Deluxe scan except that it is much higher resolution so if you need
to print large prints you may want the Pro scan, otherwise you may want
to opt for Deluxe.
